I bought my Jetta on October 31, 2003. It had 42,817 miles on it at the time. The previous owner had a long commute to work, mainly on backroads and he averaged 52 MPG with it. I have a shorter commute (50 mile roundtrip) that is about 40% city, 60% highway so I haven't been getting quite as good mileage.
